Direct Entry Inspector

The Direct Entry programmes are a fundamental and crucial change to bring new perspectives, skills and experience into the police service to deliver a service which is professional, efficient and capable of dealing with the growing pressures of today and beyond. Therefore, Direct Entry is for exceptional individuals with comprehensive leadership and management skills who want a new, challenging and rewarding career.

South Yorkshire Police is one of the participating forces for the Direct Entry Inspector (DEI) programme. The programme offers the training and support you will need to make the transition from your current role as a leader to an operational police leader and forge a new career in the police service.

DEI is a two-year programme and has been designed to deliver robust and comprehensive training to ensure that on completion, you will be a highly competent uniformed operational Inspector able to make a positive impact on policing and your community.

While we would typically expect candidates to have a level 6/7 qualification we will also give consideration to individuals who can demonstrate equivalent level experience in the workplace and who have the minimum level of qualifications required of a police officer. Further details around eligibility for SYP in particular can be found in the Force Guidance Notes.

Please note applications are not currently being accepted for this scheme.
