Tackling burglaries, the use and supply and drugs and antisocial behaviour are just some of the priorities officers in Doncaster are focusing on over the next few months.

Across the district, officers have been working hard to identify the areas of most concern to the diverse communities living across the town.

Some of these include house burglaries, drug crime and antisocial behaviour, as Chief Inspector Andrew Hunt explains.

“While overall across Doncaster we have seen a reduction in the number of incidents occurring, there are several key areas we are continuing to tackle and dedicate resources to.

“Locally, we know that burglary and drug crime are two main issues residents have raised, in addition to off-road motorbikes. Speeding vehicles, particularly outside of schools, are also a key focus for our neighbourhood teams.

“To tackle these issues, residents can expect to see dedicated operations taking place, to identify anyone committing these offences and disrupting the use and supply of drugs.”

Chief Inspector Hunt is relatively new to Doncaster, joining the command team as neighbourhoods lead earlier this year.

He has 23-years with the force and has previously worked in the force’s call handling centre as Chief Inspector with extensive experience looking at demand and where resources are most needed.

CI Hunt continued: “We want people living and working in Doncaster to have confidence in us that we are tackling the issues that matters most to them. While we can look at demand and what incidents are being called in, it is also really important that people contact us if there is something causing them concern. By knowing what the issue is, we can look at how we can help.

“There are a number of ways you can get in touch with us - you can report an incident via 101, or online and we also hold regular neighbourhood events across Doncaster where you can meet officers, discuss any issues you have and find out more about the work we’re doing.

“Details of community events will be sent out through there and posted on our website and social media feeds.”
