Man due before magistrates charged with alleged robberies

A 35-year-old man is due to appear before Sheffield Magistrates Court this morning (23 January) charged in connection with burglary and three reported robberies in Sheffield.

Alan Smith, of Batemoor Road, Sheffield, is charged with three counts of robbery, one count of burglary and two counts of possessing a bladed article.

The charges relate to a reported burglary at Tesco on Birley Moor Road on the 11 January, and three reported robberies at three separate premises, including Totley Rise Post Office, McColl’s Newsagents on Ecclesall Road South and Westwick News and Booze between the 14 and 19 January 2019.
