Officers were out in force again in Mexborough yesterday (Monday 29 April) patrolling the area and carrying out a number of stop and searches.

The work of Doncaster’s Fortify team aims to disrupt the activities of suspected organised crime gangs in the Mexborough area.

Officers also made two arrests. Joshua Carter Walsh, aged 27, from Mexborough, was arrested and later charged with carrying an offensive weapon. He was also subject to a warrant for failing to attend for a court appearance. He was remanded in custody to appear before Doncaster Magistrates Court today (Tuesday 30 April).

And 22-year-old man from Rotherham was reported on summons on suspicion of possession of cannabis.

Detective Inspector Steve Smith, who heads up the Fortify team, said: “I hope these continued great results will reassure the local community that we are working hard to get these people off the streets.

“But we still need more help from the community to bring these criminals to justice. People know who these gang leaders are and the locations they are using to hide drugs, weapons and cash.
