A 40-year-old man is currently in police custody following an incident in Barnsley yesterday in which a grassland fire was reportedly started deliberately.
At around 3pm, emergency services were called to fields just off Burton Road, Monk Bretton, responding to a call stating a number of fires had been started on the land.
The fire spread to nearby properties and caused damage to a number of vehicles. No one was injured in the incident.
A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and criminal damage in connection to the incident and currently remains in police custody.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue have issued advice and a warning to the public, in relation to grass fires.
