The initial benefits of CONNECT Partner have been recognised on the one month milestone of its launch in South Yorkshire and Humberside.

At the beginning of November CONNECT Partner, a module within the core CONNECT system, officially went live in South Yorkshire and Humberside to allow partners to access a core police IT system to jointly manage cases for the first time.

In just over a month since its implementation, police and partners in Barnsley and Police in Humberside have been proactively using the system to collectively live time manage cases on individuals, locations and offenders.

Training and system demonstrations have also taken place to register further users on the system and the project team are continuing to work with the systems supplier to monitor, track and test the platform, in order to embed it into our ways of working.

The next steps are to implement the platform in other areas across South Yorkshire and Humberside as part of the test bed of the system over the next six months, and Integrated Offender Management (IOM) practitioners in Grimsby are expected to be registered on the system after Christmas.

The introduction of the platform, which is being piloted by both South Yorkshire and Humberside police as a proof of concept, was commissioned by the Problem Solving and Demand Reduction Programme to identify, test and evaluate the benefits the collaborative system can have on reducing demand.

The initial pilot is expected to conclude in March 2020 with the closure of the Problem Solving and Demand Reduction Programme, however the module will still to be available for use and a full evaluation of the business benefits and project lessons learnt, will be shared with police forces and partners who want to adopt the system.
