Man under arrest following burglaries in Sheffield
Date published: 21 September 2023 11:54The residents of Dore and Totley may have been woken up in the early hours by officers, blue lights, sirens, and the mighty bark of PD Chase.
Following multiple burglaries this morning (21 September) a man is under arrest and in police detention.
At 1:21am we received a call stating three men were attempting to gain entry to a property on Chatsworth Road in Sheffield.
The offenders are alleged to have been unphased by the victim’s attempts to disturb them, and only fled the scene after throwing a broken door handle at the victim.
As officers were on the way, a further report came in of offenders, of the same description gaining entry to a property on Furniss Avenue, where young children were sleeping.
Already close by, Sheffield response officers, supported by roads policing officers, and a dog handler began securing the area to find those responsible.
During a search, officers arrested a 19-year-old man, found hiding in gardens close by.
18-month-old Malinois general purpose dog PD Chase quickly put his nose to use and recovered property, believed to belong to the offenders.
PD Chase was rewarded for his efforts with some fresh chicken, and once he got home after his shift it was dinner and bed. Today he’s putting his paws up on the sofa.
