As part of our commitment to tacking the issues that matter to our communities the most, traffic officers are asking for your help to shape their priorities.
Earlier this year in March, results from our previous survey were published. We received 2184 responses, of those:
48% of you said that you want officers to tackle those who drive under the influence of drink and drugs.
38% of you want officers to tackle those who drive whilst using a mobile phone.
37.5% of you want officers to tackle those who use vehicles in an anti-social manner.
The next highest results were for speeding, drivers using vehicles without insurance, cars being driven in bad condition and drivers not wearing a seat belt.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, traffic officers’ tasking was altered to reflect the changes in legislation, although still active, officers are not keen to provide that additional focus to issues.
Roads Policing Inspector Jason Booth explains why it is important to have your say, he said: “Last year we were asking you to have your say on what our focus should be and how we can create safer roads.
“We will always be there to intercept criminals who use our road network to commit crime, we will always be there to respond to emergencies where you need us the most, but your answers allow us to pro-actively focus on the issues that matter to you.
“We want to create safer roads and with your help, we are able to think of innovative ideas and implement changes.
“Please complete the five minute survey and have your say.”
The survey can be completed here- https://wh1.snapsurveys.com/s.asp?k=159256584477 and will remain open until Wednesday 8 July 2020
