Police appeal following a road traffic collision on the A6102 , Prince of Wales Road, Sheffield

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision on A6102 Prince of Wales Road at the crossroads with Queen Mary Road which has resulted in a 24-year-old man sustaining fatal injuries. At 5.55am on Sunday, 27 May 2012 a blue Volkswagen Passat is reported to have been travelling out of Sheffield from the direction of the Sheffield Parkway when a multi-coloured Kawasaki ZX400 L1 is believed to have been travelling in the opposite direction. The Passat is reported to have been turning right at the traffic light junction towards Queen Mary Road when it was in collision with the Kawasaki. The rider of the Kawasaki, a 24-year-old man from Dore in Sheffield suffered fatal head injuries. The driver of the Passat, a 31-year-old man from Sheffield has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of driving and riding of the vehicles prior to the incident is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 262 of 27 May 2012.
