UPDATE: Man charged in connection with Sheffield school incident

Detectives investigating an incident at a school in Sheffield on Tuesday 13 February have charged a 23-year-old man in connection with the investigation.

Aquib Qumar, of Firth Park Road Sheffield, has been charged with a number of offences including criminal damage, communicating false information, dangerous driving and driving whilst being disqualified. He has been remanded into custody until his appearance before Sheffield Magistrates' Court this morning (Thursday 15 February).

Officers were called to a secondary school in Owler Lane, just before 8.25am on Tuesday morning (13 February) following reports that a black BMW was being driven at speed around the car park and had subsequently caused damage to the entrance.

No one was hurt in the incident.

A 20-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and criminal damage has since been released under investigation as enquiries continue.  

 

 

Enquiries ongoing following incident at Sheffield school

Detectives are this evening continuing their enquires into an incident at a Sheffield school, for which two men have been arrested.

The men, aged 23 and 20, both from the Sheffield area, are arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and causing criminal damage and remain in police custody at this time.

Officers were called to the secondary school in Owler Lane, just before 8.25am this morning (Tuesday 13 February) following reports that a black BMW was being driven at speed around the car park and subsequently caused damage to the entrance.

No one was injured in the incident.

T/Detective Chief Inspector Steve Ashmore, investigating, said: “Officers have been at the school for most of the day, carrying out enquiries at the scene and reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.

“The school closed for the day to enable us to do this and I’m grateful for their support and co-operation. The school will open again as normal tomorrow.

“While an investigation is underway and in its early stages, I’d like to reiterate that we believe this to be an isolated incident and that there is no wider risk to the surrounding community.”
